As the dog days of summer come upon us, everyone in the panhandle area starts looking for ways to avoid the heat. Air conditioners run on overload, the pools and beaches are crowded, and ice cream parlors are filled with people trying to chill out from the inside! But the coolest of visitors and residents know the best way to avoid the heat in August is by participating in the Emerald Coast Boat Week and Poker Run! Held August 7th through 10th, Boat Week, also known as the Big One, has been one of the largest reasons for visiting in August, and the proceeds go to help out the less fortunate children who live in the area, giving visitors even more reason to come check it out!
2018 Emerald Coast Poker Run; Back. 2018 Emerald Coast Poker Run Start. Thanksgiving Day. The Florida Powerboat Club heads to Key West here in episode 2 during the epic 26th annual Key West Poker Run. Over 200 boats make their way with great condition. The Emerald Coast Poker Run Party takes place at the Emerald Coast Convention Center and the Grand Prize this year is a 2019 Harley Davidson Street Bob, but there will be other prizes offered as well. Bikini Contests & Boating Competitions at the Emerald Coast Boat Week
It’s more than likely that we really don’t need to say anything else about this fun event, but knowledge is power, so why stop now? Registration for the Emerald Coast Poker Run costs $295 per entry and gets you access for two into all Boat Week events. For those who are seeking the ultimate in Boat Week experiences, you can upgrade to VIP for another $200. Your VIP experience includes free drinks and VIP seating for two at the Captain’s Party, VIP seating at the Bikini Contest, and reserved seating and free drinks at the “Big One” Poker Run Party (plus the bar stays open late for VIP members!). Remember, this event is for the kids, and if it means you have to have an even better time, isn’t it worth it?
Emerald Coast Powerboat Poker Run 2018 Car Show
Starting with a Blues, Brew, & BBQ party on Wednesday, August 7th, every day of the event features new fun and excitement. The aforementioned bikini competition, registration, and sponsor party is on Thursday. On Friday night registration opens again and the Rockin’ the Docks Captain’s Party is held. Saturday is when the real fun begins, though! The rules for the Poker Run (The Big One) are simple: travel by boat to the listed spots to get your poker cards (there are nine), and that evening from 6-11 PM, the game is on!

One of the largest and most popular charity poker runs in the nation, this boating extravaganza has been gracing the sparkling waters in and around Northwest Florida for more than 25 years. Let the countdown begin and get your boat (and yourself) ready for action: Exciting Boat Week events kick off Wednesday, August 7!
Boating for a Cause
The Emerald Coast Foundation’s annual Emerald Coast Poker Run is a boater’s dream event, with powerboats, fishing boats, pleasure boats, and other watercraft taking to the waterways around Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Navarre, and Pensacola. On Saturday, August 10, boaters navigate to designated stops along the route. The week culminates with a Poker Run Party featuring poker, blackjack, a silent auction, all-you-can-eat food, and an open bar to celebrate the memories made on the water.
Proceeds from this volunteer-run charity event go to the Emerald Coast Foundation, which works to help fund children’s charities and youth organizations in Northwest Florida. Charities supported by the Foundation include The Arc of the Emerald Coast, Children in Crisis Inc., Eleanor J. Johnson Youth Center, and the All Sports Association. As of last year’s Boat Week, the Emerald Coast Foundation has raised more than $2.5 million with the Emerald Coast Poker Run and Boat Week events.
